People are exploring various alternate ways of treatment and color therapy is one such therapy which is gaining prominence in the present world. Focused on the effective use of colors to attain a healing effect, color therapy also known as chromatherapy makes use of various different colors to treat different problems of the body. While color therapy can help in maintaining the overall well-being of a person, it is a therapy which can be used along with mainstream therapies to attain maximum benefits. However, it should not be substituted for sound medical advice.

Colors are simply lights of varying wavelengths but they have the power to affect and influence one’s mood and life. Every color has its own special power and energies and this is made use by color therapy to maintain a balance of colors in the body to attain a healthy self. For instance, people with anxiety and hypertension are often treated with blue color due to its tranquilizing and relaxing effect. The color pink also has a calming and tranquilizing effect within minutes and it is thus used to suppress hostile and aggressive behavior. Color red is often associated with activity due to its high energies of vitality and courage. Treating a person with red color can help in stimulating brain activity along with helping in providing immense energy and self confidence. People with poor appetite and weak digestive system are often treated with colors orange and yellow. Yellow is a color which can also aid in improving one’s memory, perception and understanding. Every color has its associated energy and power which can be used to treat particular problems caused by that color’s deficiency.

Healing through colors can be carried out through the use of candles, lamp radiation, sun’s energies and through color breathings. It has been found that eating food of certain colors can also help in balancing the energies of the body. Thus, color therapy is an art which focuses on maintaining a healthy balance of colors in the body to maintain the overall well being of a person.
